How Far Is The Beach? You don’t have to go far to get your feet in the sand. Salisbury is home to one of the most well-kept beaches in Massachusetts. I wrote a separate blog post about the Salisbury Beach here. It could be a mere five-minute walk from your next home. The Plum Island beaches in Newbury are another great option just a quick 15-minute drive down the road.

Moving to Salisbury Reason #1: Salisbury Beach
The most exciting thing about Salisbury is it’s classic beachfront! I dedicated an entirely separate article about Salisbury Beach from a local perspective. Not only are there plenty of parking spots (you won’t have to haul your beach gear too far), the inviting beachfront businesses offer plenty of fun for the whole family. Convenient stores stocked with sunscreen, towels, and snacks make up the first few buildings. As a result, you can pack light.
Joe’s Playland offers a traditional arcade experience with a wide variety of games and prizes (and pool tables upstairs with ocean views). There are classic beach pizza and fried-food vendors, while other seaside eateries offer organic options (so you can accommodate all of the diets in your household)! Front-and-center is the Salisbury Beach stage, where you might catch some live music in the early evenings. Salisbury Beach checks all the boxes for a day of family fun (there’s even a seasonal carousel) so it’s definitely worth the visit!
Moving to Salisbury Reason #2: Eclectic Culinary Scene
If you’re in Salisbury, you’ve got some amazing food options! Swing by Seaglass to have an elegant dinner surrounded by panoramic views of the ocean (the brunch there is AMAZING if you’re looking for a Sunday-morning feast). The Sylvan Street Grille dishes out phenomenal all-American classics and is a favorite among the locals for an upscale evening. If you’re looking for something a little more casual, Family’s Chinese is a local treasure that fries up top-tier delights– the crab rangoons are a must-try! And of course, you can never fail with the deep-fried goodies at the beach…although, GroundSwell Surf Cafe on the water serves acai bowls and vegan-friendly alternatives for all parties. 
Moving to Salisbury Reason #3: Salisbury Beach State Reservation
This beautiful State Reservation overlooks the point where the Merrimac River feeds into the Atlantic Ocean. It’s a wonderful place for swimming, boating, camping, fishing, walking, and more: plus, there’s a playground and pavilion for the family! The breathtaking views alongside the clean facilities make for an amazing day trip.
Moving to Salisbury Reason #4: Movie Theaters
Right off the highway are a few favorite local theaters: Vision Max Cinema and Cinemagic. Stop by for the latest movies and some delicious buttered popcorn. The wonderful staff is happy to accommodate your needs, and you don’t have to go far for a wonderful cinematic experience.
Con of Living in Salisbury: Transient Population
Salisbury is a town along the ocean. As a result, Salisbury is a vacation spot and the population swells three times its size during the summer. During the winter months, people stay there because of the low cost of apartments and cottage/motel rentals. The town attracts people who are struggling or down on their luck and need a reliable, affordable place to live.
